Hays Travel Homeworking Reviews On Spirit

Charity Coach TripsHide

Over the year, many of our branches have travelled across the country taking their customers on coach trips to explore iconic cities. Here’s a rundown of what they got up to.

First up was our Consett branch. The staff and their lovely customers had a fantastic day in Whitby in September fundraising for Willowburn Hospice — a foundation close to everyone's hearts in the branch, and full of staff that are fantastic at what they do. The branch organised quizzes, games and raffles on board the coach to keep everyone entertained.

Team Consett were off on their travels again in December, this time on a festive trip to York’s Christmas markets, boosting funds for Willowburn Hospice even further reaching a grand total of £430.

Havant, who also took their customers on a mystery bus trip which ended in Brighton in September, successfully raised £630 for Rowans Hospice through kind donations and raffle tickets.

Team Wallsend has also been extremely busy lately, with three day trips in the space of three weeks, all to raise money for The Charlie Bear Cancer Appeal.

The team took customers to Edinburgh, Grassington Festival and York, together raising over £1500. After some sightseeing, they visited each town’s Christmas market to do a spot of shopping, held a raffle, and organised on-board bingo for everyone to enjoy.

Peterlee travelled to Leeds alongside their customers, raising funds for Epilepsy Research UK in aid of a young boy, Ollie, who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy — migrating epilepsy in infancy, with only 100 cases in the world. The branch successfully raised an amazing £633 for the charity.

Blandford recently organised a festive trip to Bath to enjoy the Christmas market all in aid of Teddy 20 — a charity based in Blandford, supporting children suffering with cancer. On arrival, everyone headed straight to explore the markets where over 170 chalets, packed full of Christmas gifts, lined the streets.

The team organised a raffle for the trip home, with two Christmas Hampers and a £100 Hays Travel voucher up for grabs, After an amazing day, the staff had raised a total of £500 for Teddy20.

Carrying on with the festivities, Gateshead took their customers for some retail therapy with a shopping trip to the Trafford Centre in Manchester to raise funds for Kibblesworth Village Millennium Centre, which provides space, services and activities for the local community. Overall, Team Gateshead managed to raise a fantastic £500 for the Millennium Centre.

Well done to the above branches for their fundraising efforts. All together they raised over £4400 for their chosen charities!

Skydiving for CharityShow

Three brave, Hays Travel employees took part in sponsored skydives to raise money for two separate charities in south-west England.

Hays Travel Boscombe??s branch manager, Joe Field, and apprentice travel consultant, Chariece Jones, raised a fantastic £530 for the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital in Dorset. They took part in separate skydives on 10 October.

Joe said: ??It was a great experience. I was originally not going to get the company involved, but I was delighted when we made it a fundraising event and Chariece decided to take part!?

Hays Travel Boscombe??s chosen charity also owns and runs a hotel in Bournemouth for patients that are in the final stages of life. It offers a welcome retreat for those who need it.

Tom Holland, senior travel consultant at Hays Travel Westbourne, raised £320 for the Lewis-Manning Hospice after skydiving 15,000 feet on 6 September. He completed the tandem skydive in front of anxious colleagues following an hour-long training session.

Tom said: ??I??d always wanted to skydive, although everyone at the branch thought I was mad! I??m very happy with the amount raised and all the customer donations we received.?

This is the first time Hays Travel Westbourne has supported Lewis-Manning Hospice, although the branch is currently planning a team event to further support the cause. Tom is also hoping to participate in another extreme activity in aid of the charity next year.

Poole??s Lewis-Manning Hospice offers free, specialist, palliative care to approximately 700 local people every year.

Everyone at Hays Travel is extremely proud of all three skydivers.

Middlesbrough branch support autism charityShow

Kelly and the team from Middlesbrough sponsored a coach for a local charity ?? MAIN ?? Taking Autism Personally. The charity supports children, teens and young adults with autism. The Middlesbrough team took families and members of staff from MAIN to Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo.

Kelly said: ??Before the trip I prepared bags for everyone on the coach and worked with a lady from the charity to compile goody bags- these included balloons, pens, privilege cards, currency wallets, business cards, sweets, drinks and wristbands advertising MAIN.

??One of the main obstacles that people with autism face is communication, and socialising with others. We travelled by coach to Flamingo Land, taking about an hour and a half, so I spent this time mingling with the children and teens on the bus, talking to them about their interests and what they were looking forward to in the day, hoping to build trust and get them to open up.

??Once in the park we spent time watching the children go on the rides and visit the zoo. Seeing them so happy, their faces alight with excitement, was priceless, and worth every penny spent on the cost of the coach.

??On the return journey every single person thanked me and told of how grateful they were, even some of the children who appeared really shy on the way there. I feel like we have built a fantastic relationship with this charity and hopefully this will continue to grow and we can continue to support them over the coming months and years.

??Autism is something very close to my heart as my little godson was diagnosed recently. I have done a lot of research into the condition, read a lot of books and I??m amazed at what these people endure and have to deal with every day.?

Bath Travel fund raising for Ryan EdwardsShow

During 2014, many Bath Travel branches helped to raise a whopping £1949.68 for the Ryan Edwards Appeal for Neuroblastoma Children??s Cancer Alliance Charity. This massive amount of money was raised through Bath Travel branches collecting old, new and unwanted currency notes and coins before converting them into sterling.

Assistant Manager at Bath Travel Exeter, Jackie Chalk holds this cause particularly close to her heart, as she is Ryan??s aunty.

At the age of 2, Ryan was diagnosed with a rare children??s cancer, Neuroblastoma, he went on to have two rounds of treatment, but sadly relapsed. With no further treatment available in the UK, the only solution was for Ryan to go to Germany and undergo a Stem Cell Transplant, using cells donated from his mum.

With the support of the NCCA Charity, Ryan got the treatment and thanks to fund raising and generous donations, a massive £260, 000 was raised to cover the costs of Ryan??s treatments.

Thankfully, Ryan is now cured, he is 8 years old and almost in school full time, which he absolutely loves!

Jackie would like to thank everyone involved and give a special thank you to Rachel Dunn, from Bath Travel Exeter, for setting up and co-coordinating the fundraising idea.

Below Bath Travel, Exeter, present cheque to Jackie Chalk, Ryan??s Auntie. From left to right, Rachel Dunn, Andrew Reed, Leanne Lethbridge, Jenny Smith and Jackie Chalk.

Billingham support charity football teamShow

Billingham has this year supported the ??Jo & Mya Memorial Fund??, sponsoring a charity football team who played against the ??Once Upon a Smile?? charity team, which consisted of soap stars from both Waterloo Road and Emmerdale. The match took place in Billingham at the Synthonia football ground on Sunday 28th July and sold over 750 tickets, with a further 1500 at the entrance gate.

Ray said: ??It was a great day and all the team from the Billingham branch attended.

??The memorial fund for Jo & Mya was set up after a tragic accident. One day in summer 2010, Ian Richardson, his wife Joanne and two daughters, Mya and Ava, were travelling back from a family wedding in Scotland when just 30 miles from their home in Teesside their family car was hit head on by another motorist heading the wrong way on the A1. Joanne was killed instantly, Ian and Mya sustained massive injuries, whilst Ava remarkably escaped unscathed. Mya sadly died in her father??s arms in hospital 16 hours later. Ian has since set up this charity with every penny raised going directly to help children in need. We at Billingham were proud to be part of this and could not have done it without Hays Travel??s commitment to looking after the local community.?

The official inspecting body said that our apprentices, "develop outstanding
skills and knowledge and have excellent career progression and promotion

provider.

Head of Training, Katie Woods-Ruddick, said: "Having an external body like Ofsted come in
and review what we do has been a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable feedback
with regard to how we can improve, and also for us to receive the recognition that

John Hays said: "I am absolutely delighted with the feedback we have received from Ofsted.
